Join the City of South Jordan as a Deputy City Recorder!
The City of South Jordan is looking for an organized and dependable professional to join the City Recorder's Office. With business licensing as the position's primary function, this role is responsible for accurately evaluating applications and renewals, maintaining official licensing records, and delivering consistent guidance to applicants. The Deputy City Recorder also provides essential backup support for records management, public meetings, elections, cemetery administration, and other legally regulated functions of the City Recorder's Office.
What You'll Do:- Administer the City's general business and home occupation licensing processes.
- Review applications and renewals for completeness and compliance, making approval or denial determinations as appropriate.
- Maintain reliable business license files, reports, records, and documentation.
- Communicate licensing requirements and processes clearly to businesses, residents, City departments, and outside agencies.
- Prepare or assist with City Council agendas, packets, notices, meeting minutes, and official documents.
- Support GRAMA compliance, records retention, municipal elections, passport services, cemetery administration, and other assigned functions.
- You have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of clerical experience related to the position's duties.
- You understand, or can quickly learn, municipal government operations and regulatory requirements.
- You demonstrate accuracy when preparing official records, reports, applications, notices, and correspondence.
- You exercise sound judgment when handling confidential information, legal deadlines, and sensitive public interactions.
- You possess or can obtain all required licenses, certifications, and professional designations within the established timelines.
- Apply your administrative expertise to a function that supports responsible business activity throughout the City.
- Work with detailed processes where accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment are valued.
- Contribute to transparent records, compliant operations, and dependable public services.
- Collaborate with City officials, departments, businesses, county agencies, and community partners.
- Be part of an organization committed to professional service and continuous improvement.
