Reporting to the Construction Site Manager, the Quality Manager will implement an effective quality program for a Utility Scale Renewable Energy project. A successful quality program includes planning, preparation of quality control and assurance processes, conducting daily quality oversight, and inspections. A CEG Quality Manager will be meticulous, have strong leadership and communication skills, technical expertise, analytical thinking abilities, and mathematical and administrative knowledge.
May manage a team of Quality Inspectors. The Quality Manager knows the day-to-day project installation tasks and plans for future tasks.
This position will be based Onsite.
Skills/Experience Planning- Review and understand the project technical requirements found in the Agreements, IFC drawings, applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
- Review installation manuals and submittals to understand the installation process for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical tasks.
- Coordinate pre-construction alignment meetings prior to all new construction activities beginning with contractor.
- Review the EPC Site-Specific Quality Plan.
- Ensure and understand that site team does not provide direction to the EPC, rather observe, and suggest recommended changes based on the EPC contractual agreement and industry best practices.
- Oversee the Quality program for specific tasks:
Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical. - If applicable, manage team performing regular field inspections.
- Implement a quality surveillance program and deficiency notification process.
- Collaborate on the First Build, Golden Row/Golden Tower installation inspections.
- Maintain records of any deviations from quality standards.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports for critical items and potential systemic issues.
- Monitor the Contractors quality inspection checklists submitted.
- Ensure installation is in accordance with industry standards, manufacture specifications, applicable code requirements, safety regulations, and that any necessary certifications are obtained.
- Ensure the appropriate tools are utilized by the contractor to conduct the task and tool calibration records are maintained and available upon request.
- Analyze data from inspections and testing to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with project teams to implement corrective actions and process enhancements.
- Provide guidance and training to project teams on quality control procedures and best practices, with a focus on promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct audits and assessments to ensure materials and equipment meet quality standard specifications.
- Explain quality control measures, address concerns, and provide regular updates on project quality performance.
- Provide coaching on effective communication and engagement techniques with other project team members.
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Work with Site Safety manager to integrate safety protocols into quality control processes, ensuring a safe jobsite.
- Report any unsafe act or activity to the Construction Site Manager and Site Safety Manager.
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
- Proven quality management experience in renewable energy; managing direct reports preferred.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract exhibits.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems and components, installation practices, and quality standards.
- Versed in industry standards, codes, regulations related to utility scale PV, BESS, wind, substation, construction.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify potential quality issues and risks.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc. - Understand tools and equipment calibration procedures.
