Job DescriptionThe Clothing Clerk provides an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple by laundering, mending, and generally caring for the clothing and linens used in the temple. This position reports to the Clothing Supervisor and provides guidance and direction to volunteers/service missionaries working in the Temple.
Responsibilities- 60‑70% Operates commercial laundry equipment; prepares clothing and linens for use within the temple, including sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items needed by patrons, workers, and other visitors.
- 10‑15% Trains and oversees service missionaries/volunteers in daily laundry operations; ensures they accomplish and prioritize laundry tasks.
- 10‑15% Waits courteously on patrons to provide needed temple clothing in proper sizes; ensures sufficient clothing is available and may oversee clothing rental operations.
- 5‑10% Performs daily preventative maintenance on laundry equipment such as routine cleaning of machinery, filters, vents, and screens; changes washer chemicals, spot‑cleans clothing, assists with steam‑pressing and ironing, tracks production records, and performs other related duties as assigned.
- 1 year of work experience, preferably in laundry, retail, or customer service.
- Ability to organize, lead, and manage volunteers.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well with others.
- Ability to focus and stay on task.
- Demonstrated and consistent excellence in customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to be teachable and follow instructions.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Able to lift 30 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing a step stool or ladder, and standing for long periods.
- Basic computer skills.
