Overview
Join our team! We are seeking an experienced Repair Lead Technician to provide advanced diagnostics, quality repairs, and technical leadership. This role includes conducting inspections, performing complex maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and providing day-to-day direction to repair technicians and apprentices. The Repair Lead Technician serves as both a senior technical resource and working team leader, ensuring service quality, safety compliance, operational efficiency, and accurate documentation.
Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise are essential for this role.
- Accountable for maintaining at least 80% billable labor utilization.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and technical equipment in both shop and field environments.
- Travel to customer sites to perform service work, inspections, and necessary repairs as assigned.
- Serve as the lead technical resource for complex diagnostics and escalated repair issues.
- Provide day-to-day direction, coordination, and technical guidance to Repair Technicians and apprentices to ensure safety, quality, and timely completion of work.
- Assign, prioritize, and coordinate work orders and field service activities to align with customer needs, technician availability, and productivity goals.
- Train and mentor technicians on repair procedures, equipment standards, safety practices, documentation requirements, and customer service expectations.
- Manage daily service activities, ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and billing.
- Record and track parts usage to maintain accurate billing and inventory control.
- Maintain and oversee the operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the assigned work vehicle and service equipment.
- Support scheduling and staffing coverage to ensure service continuity and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the service repair shop remains safe, clean, and organized.
- Enforce company policies and safety protocols; actively participate in safety meetings, team meetings, and leadership discussions.
- Stay up to date with current and new equipment technologies utilized at customer locations.
- Collaborate with sales teams by identifying and reporting potential service opportunities and new account leads.
- Analyze operational performance and recommend improvements to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while performing fieldwork.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of mechanical repair experience or completion of a certified mechanical trade program.
- 3-5 years of repair technician experience in mechanical, electrical, fleet, or equipment repair preferred.
- Previous lead, trainer, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to obtain equipment manufacturer training certifications (certifications may be provided).
- Must maintain a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and comply with regular MVR monitoring.
- Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter expert and technical trainer.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong mathematical and technical aptitude.
- Proficient in both written and verbal English communication.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and inventory management systems preferred.
- Ability to perform clerical tasks, including data entry, documentation, and paperwork processing.
- Capable of analyzing operational data and recommending improvements to enhance performance.
Salary: $30.00 per hour
