$23.10 - $33.27/hr DOQ
Are you someone who loves working outdoors, takes pride in helping your community, and thrives on hands‑on, physically engaging tasks? The City of South Jordan is seeking a hard‑working Water Maintenance Worker to join our Public Works Department and ensure that our community has a safe, reliable water supply. This is a full‑time position, requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Install, clean, and repair components of the City's drinking water and irrigation systems to ensure residents and businesses have reliable water pressure.
- Monitor water lines for leaks or breaks, quickly addressing issues to minimize water service disruptions.
- Operate utility locating equipment and accurately mark underground lines, collaborating with contractors and city staff to prevent accidental damage.
- Follow safety procedures and traffic‑control practices when working in roadways or confined spaces.
- Use and maintain a variety of tools, vehicles, and equipment in proper working order.
- A high school graduate (or equivalent) who is at least 18 years old.
- Able to obtain a valid Utah Class A Commercial Driver License within six months of hire.
- Physically capable of handling the demands of the job, including lifting (40–60 lbs.) and working in various weather conditions.
- Detail‑oriented, with the ability to read maps and blueprints, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
