Raisebore Operator II

Job Description

The primary role of the Raisebore Operator is to direct and perform all activities related to operating the raise drill machinery, including moving, set‑up, pilot hole drilling, installation and removal of the reamer, reaming, inspection, maintenance and tear‑down. Adherence to safety protocols and efficient teamwork are essential. The operator mentors and trains the Raisebore Offsider and Assistant Raisebore Operator in the safe operation of various Redpath raise drills.

• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
• Comprehend written and verbal instructions to perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Operate the assigned raise drill according to procedure with respect to set‑up, etc.
• Adjust operation of the raise drill to compensate for ground conditions.
• Direct crew members on duties related to the safe and efficient operation of the raise drill.
• Provide training and mentoring to less‑experienced crew members.
• Connect various components on the raise drill as required.
• Monitor inventory for reamers, drill bits, and spare parts; communicate requirements to the Project Superintendent.
• Read and interpret engineering plans to set up the raise drill and assemble components.
• Perform minor repairs as required.
• Assist the crew with maintaining a clean work site, storage of materials and spare parts.
• Follow proper procedure to ensure safety and protect equipment from damage.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment.
• When required, operate a company vehicle, meeting eligibility criteria, possessing a valid State Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
• Keep work areas safe and free of hazards; perform Field Level Risk Assessments.
• Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding Redpath and client information.
• Comply with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, and SOPs.
• Work more than 40 hours a week including overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays, and shift rotations as needed.
• Adhere to Redpath Core Competencies, an essential duty and responsibility.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)

• Some college education in mechanical or trades related fields (Preferred)

• 1–2 years operating various classes of Redpath raise drills (Required)
• 3–5 years operating various classes of Redpath raise drills, with progression in size and complexity of projects (Preferred)
• Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance
• Proficiency in pilot drilling and reaming in various geological conditions
• Experience in diamond or production drilling is beneficial

• Proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials
• Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment
• Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil, structural, rock excavation work)
• Knowledge of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining
• Knowledge of raisebore drill operations

• Pass background clearance check, drug screening, and medical examination
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Prepare written reports and correspondence
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Work in a team environment with minimal supervision
• High attention to detail, neatness, and accuracy
• Work independently and collaboratively
• Strong understanding of safety standards and protocols
