What You Will Do

The Associate Laboratory Directorate for Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ALDESHQ) is currently seeking motivated graduate students for paid internship opportunities. Our interns receive mentoring, hands‑on technical experience, and professional development through a formalized work plan aligned with their study area. ALDESHQ supports more than 160 lab‑wide safety programs, environmental protection, radiation protection, waste management, quality, occupational medicine, wellness, and nearly 5,000 projects for Los Alamos National Laboratory.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with outstanding critical‑thinking skills.
• Capacity to work on multiple fast‑paced projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience working effectively as part of a team, with a willingness to help others and also work independently.
• Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through preparation of correspondence, reports, and presentations.
• Excellent customer‑service, organizational, and time‑management skills.
• Ability to uphold the Laboratory’s mission, vision, culture, and values.

• Currently enrolled (≤ 6 semester credit hours or full‑time equivalent) in an accredited graduate‑degree program (or international equivalent).
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for consideration.

Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. The position may follow a 9/8 work schedule at management discretion and in accordance with the Student Programs Office guidebook.
