South Lake Tahoe

Job Description: The City of South Lake Tahoe is currently seeking a seasonal/limited duration Stormwater Intern for the Public Works Department. The stormwater internship is an opportunity to work for the City Stormwater Management Program to reduce urban runoff pollution and help restore the clarity of Lake Tahoe. Internship work includes a significant amount of field work, inspections, use of GPS/GIS for field data collection, data entry, report writing, and participation in stormwater education and outreach events.

Field inspection tasks include assessing stormwater conveyance systems (curbs, drain inlets, pipes, and outfalls), evaluating stormwater treatment systems (constructed wetlands, infiltration basins, vegetated swales, and underground vaults), creating inventories of maintenance needs, verifying the effectiveness of street sweeping, construction site inspections, and responding to citizen complaints.
