Position: Registered Nurse - GI- Full Time- 32 hours per week- 4-8's to include Monday-Friday
Summary of Position:

Provides professional nursing care to patients in the GI Lab requiring endoscopy, colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, TEE and Liver Clinic, utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. Accurately and safely administers moderate sedation/analgesia. Monitors patient response, ensures patient safety during procedure and documents according to policy & procedure. Services are provided based on the ages of the population served;
Newborn through geriatric - 65 years or older and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served in the GI Lab.

Qualifications

Education:

* Completion of an accredited Nursing program.

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience:

* One year recent acute care nursing experience preferred

* Previous GI Lab or surgical experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Knowledge of nursing practices in the GI Lab department.

* Highly effective written and verbal communications skills.

* Proficient computer skills as are required to document, communicate and enter information into the electronic medical records system;
Epic experience preferred.

* Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

* Ability to collaborate with various departments in and outside of the Barton Health System in order to provide consistently exceptional patient care.

* In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English;
Bilingual abilities preferred.

Certifications/Licensure:

* Current California license or ability to obtain prior to start date.

* Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date.

* Current ACLS certification prior to hire or must enroll and complete a Barton course within 30 days

Essential Functions

1. Provide consistently exceptional care at all times.

2. Provides professional nursing care to patients in designated department utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care.

3. Demonstrates a working knowledge of regulatory and licensing standards and ensures that practice is compliant with standards.

4. Performs systems assessment at intervals consistent with departmental standards of care and patient acuity, recognizing disturbed physiology and abnormal parameters. Assesses pain levels on all patients and assesses psychosocial needs of patients, expressing interest in their progress and comfort and prepares for disposition.

5. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served in the designated department.
