The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City, with full responsibility for directing municipal operations and implementing City Council policy. The City Manager is accountable to the City Council for the overall performance of the organization and for advancing the City’s mission and strategic priorities.
The City Council seeks a highly accomplished City Manager with exceptional financial and government finance expertise and a strong understanding of California municipal operations, including redevelopment law, labor relations, and intergovernmental affairs. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in economic development, affordable housing, and ideally tourism, along with a proven ability to build effective partnerships at the federal, state, local, and public and private levels.
A Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, political science, or a related field is required, along with seven years of progressively responsible experience in city government, including at least five years in municipal administration and three years in a high‑level administrative role such as department head or Assistant City Manager. A Master’s degree is desirable.
The outgoing City Manager had an annual salary of $233,844; salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
