Manufacturing Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift
Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift. The hourly rate for this position is $31.00 + $2.50 shift premium per hour. The hours for this shift is 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. This position is offering a sign-on bonus of $2,000
* paid in two installments, less applicable withholding.

The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Technician is to support the manufacturing engineers and to aide in the deployment of continuous improvement and lean initiatives in the plant. The ME tech will be responsible for maintaining standard work documentation, manufacturing methods, and driving other continuous improvement initiatives. In this role you will lead and participate in Kaizen and Rapid Improvement Events and be a key driver of change in your assigned teams.
In this role, you will:
- Be a key player in deploying standard work packages throughout the facility. This includes conducting time studies and creating and maintaining process documentation such as MMs and VOPs.
- Support the deployment of a new initiative called Deep How, a video process documentation program.
- Support the manufacturing engineers as needed on actions related to tooling improvements and changes, project action items, and safety and quality actions.
- Support the creation of standard tool lists for work centers.
- Participate in rapid improvement events using lean tools such as standard work and lean material flow and other Eaton lean tools.
- Participate in department value stream map projects and support key project initiatives in your assigned department(s).
- Participate in problem solving events (5 Why/A3/8D) to identify root causes of issues and implement correction actions and improvements.
- Drive 5S+ culture and improvements in the plant by completing 5S+ audits and leading 5S+ kaizen events. Implement visual controls in the plant such as floor markings, shadow boards, and bin labeling.
- Partner with operations and to support resolving daily production issues and problem solve long term production improvements. Attend daily Tier 2 meetings and escalate issues accordingly.
- Provide productivity and efficiency project suggestions based on observations from the floor.
- Issue purchase requests for equipment, supplies, and tools for production and projects.
- Support the continuous improvement ideas program by providing feedback to idea submitters and supporting implementation of the ideas.
- Complete EHS action items as needed related to management of change (MOC), gemba walks, and safety observations.
- Support pilot builds to provide input into the manufacturability of new products.
- Interface cross functionally with all areas and departments of the plant to achieve necessary results.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years working in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate degree in engineering or other technical program from an accredited institution preferred
• Experience in participating in RIE's/Kaizen/Manufacturing Engineering Capital Projects and other CI Activities in manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated engagement in continuous improvement ideas program.
• Interpersonal and soft skills for training and cross functional communications
• Willingness to drive for change, continuous improvement, and to break away from the "status quo".
• Ability to influence operations and gather buy-in for change management.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency
• Ability to work overtime when required.
