  • Full Time – Direct medical services 40 hours per week, 46 weeks per year (pro-rated for part‑time).
  • Access patients through integrated Epic EMR.

  • Salary range: $244,919 – $388,779.
About Our Pediatric Critical Care Program Unit Specifications
  • Bed capacity: 16‑bed combined Pediatric/Critical Care unit.
  • Patient population:
    Medical and general surgical pediatric patients (no postoperative cardiac surgery).
  • No teaching requirements – clinical and administrative focus only.
Advanced Capabilities & Services
  • Advanced mechanical ventilation strategies.
  • Comprehensive procedural services (intubation, central lines, chest tubes, etc.).
  • Pediatric sedation services.
  • Critical care consultation to pediatric emergency department.
  • Close collaboration with on‑site pediatric subspecialists.
Comprehensive Pediatric Subspecialty Support
  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Pediatric Gastroenterology
  • Pediatric Infectious Disease
  • Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
  • Neonatology (in‑house 24/7)

Staffing Model & Schedule Program Transition & Growth Opportunity
  • Design optimal coverage model for the unit.
  • Recruit and build a cohesive pediatric intensivist physician team.
  • Establish clinical protocols and best practices.
  • Shape future direction of the program.
Schedule Structure
  • Clinical schedule – to be determined collaboratively with the Medical Director and incoming team.
  • Call structure – night call from home.
  • Protected administrative time – dedicated time for leadership responsibilities.
  • Flexibility – input into scheduling model and work‑life balance priorities.
Current Support
  • Pediatric Hospitalists – 24/7 in‑house coverage with intensive care experience.
  • Neonatology – in‑house 24/7.
  • No APP coverage – direct physician‑led care model.
Experience & Leadership
  • Post‑fellowship experience in pediatric critical care (Preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience or interest in leadership development (Preferred).
  • Experience in program development or quality improvement (Preferred).
  • Commitment to building and growing a community pediatric critical care program (Required).
  • Experience in community pediatric intensive care settings (Preferred).

Qualifications

Minimum Education Level

  • Completion of ACGME‑accredited Pediatric Residency.
  • Completion of ACGME‑accredited Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship.

Minimum Licensure Requirements

  • Eligible for medical licensing in the State of Illinois.

Minimum Certification Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
  • Board certification/Board eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care.

Minimum Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in area of expertise in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
