REPORTS TO:

Assistant Director of Curriculum

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Assistant Director of Curriculum, this position is responsible for supporting the organization of summer school set up and will be the core administrator for the day-to-day operations of the summer school program (approximately 150 students and 12-14 staff members).

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License (ISBE PEL) with General Administrative or Principal endorsement required
  • Demonstrates successful experience as a leader within a school setting.
  • Student-centered philosophy with empathy for parents and children.
  • Demonstrates ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Experience using Student Management Systems, Skyward preferred.
  • Understanding of confidentiality of sensitive or privileged information.
  • CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Program Leadership: Direct all aspects of the K-8 summer session, including the Summer School Institure day, daily operations, student attendance, and the implementation of STEAM and intervention curricula.
  • Staff Supervision:
    Manage all daily staffing needs, providing direct supervision and instructional support to teachers and support staff.
  • Operational Readiness: Coordinate with the Assistant Director and administrative staff to ensure all instructional materials and facilities are prepared prior to session launch.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and district leadership.
  • Instructional Oversight: Monitor classroom delivery to ensure high-quality instruction and adherence to summer learning goals.
  • Administrative Support: Execute additional leadership duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Curriculum to ensure program success.
  • PROGRAM DATES:

    June 16, 2026 (mandatory SS Staff Meeting) plus 2 additional set up days TBD
    June 22 - July 16, 2026 Actual Summer School Dates (total 16 days)
    Staff Supervision total days: 19

    8:30 am - 11:30 am
    Teaching Staff

    Hours:

    8:00 am - 11:45 am
    Up to 20 hours of scheduling/clerical work prior to the first day of student attendance

    • Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
    • Speech: to be understood in face-to-face communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone
