Position Summary
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for an adjunct, non‑tenure track position in Spanish. Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course‑by‑course basis. This posting is ongoing to develop a qualified pool of candidates. The department’s needs vary from semester to semester.
- Deliver communicative instruction following the provided syllabus and textbook for a variety of sections in elementary and intermediate Spanish courses.
- Assess students’ work and provide detailed feedback on how to improve oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
- Report midterm and final grades to the Registrar within the college’s due dates and platforms.
- Communicate regularly and timely with the Elementary Spanish Coordinator and the World Languages and Cultures Chair about the general development of the courses and any issues that may arise.
- Completed a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Literature, or related fields.
- Demonstrated high‑advanced, native‑like, or native fluency in Spanish at the oral and written levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
- Experience with teaching Spanish, Linguistics, or Literature.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, teaching, and research.
$3,840 to $4,380 per 4‑credit hour course.
