Associate Director of Transfer Admission and Initiatives

Position Summary

To establish and maintain contact with prospective North Central College transfer students in order to provide information about the College, including our application process, financial aid and scholarship availability, transfer credit evaluations, and policies. To achieve or exceed goals with regard to the number of qualified transfer students who enroll at North Central College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact with students formerly or currently enrolled at a community college or a four-year college who may be interested in becoming North Central College students. Ensure that contact is established and maintained with these prospective students; keep North Central top of mind for them.
  • Represent North Central at college fairs, and visit community colleges on a regular basis; engage and provide prospective transfer students with information and literature about the College.
  • Meet with community college advisors and transfer center coordinators in order to keep them informed of North Central’s activities and programs; establish a strong partnership as they influence students’ enrollment decisions.
  • Guide students through the processes of applying for admission and financial aid; meet with students (both on-campus & virtually) and assist them in making their transfer decision, including sharing how their credits transfer, what their cost of attendance would be, and what opportunities North Central has that would be worth their investment.
  • Perform unofficial transcript evaluations outlining transfer credit equivalencies and what coursework students have left to complete at North Central; when necessary, offer course suggestions when a student shares they’re not interested in transferring to North Central until a future semester.
  • Review transfer applications, transcripts, and related supplemental documents to calculate grade point averages in order to make both admission and academic scholarship recommendations.
  • Assist prospective transfer students and their families in the process of understanding, applying for, and assessing scholarships and financial aid.
  • Serve on office or College committees/teams in support of activities related to transfer admission and enrollment processes. Work with various campus departments to ensure student support. When necessary, assist in planning, promoting, and implementing new transfer student orientation programs.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively counsel and advise prospective transfers regarding numerous aspects of the College and transfer enrollment processes; ability to perform unofficial transcript evaluations and grade point average calculations with significant attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly grasp knowledge of the organization and operation of the College, both administratively and academically, especially regarding admission-related processes such as financial aid, advising and orientation. Knowledge of the organization and operation of community colleges or four-year institutions from which transfer students are commonly recruited.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a recruitment territory and many different responsibilities simultaneously, working remotely (if needed).
  • Ability to adapt communication according to the needs of the student, recognizing each transfer student is unique. Ability to be flexible within the organization and support the team’s needs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compile, summarize and analyze data to prepare reports which are accurate, thorough yet concise, and professionally formatted. Strong organizational skills preferred.
  • Ability to use common business-oriented computer-based systems. Familiarity with Outlook, CRM’s, Teams, Excel, Word, Web research and electronic communication is preferred.
