Shape the future of students with visual impairments by joining an impactful educational team near Arlington Heights, IL. This full-time, contract position supports learners from Pre-K through transition age within an itinerant role, serving multiple schools in a dynamic district. You will play a crucial part not only in delivering individualized vision services, but also in mentoring, coaching, and guiding fellow educators as the Vision Related Services Leader.

Key

Qualifications:

• Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement specific to teaching students with visual impairments
• Master’s Degree in a relevant field
• Minimum five years of school-based experience working with visually impaired students
• Strong expertise in best practices for vision instruction, along with a passion for mentoring and supporting educational staff
• Ability to travel between schools within the district, providing flexible and responsive service
• Willingness to complete required fingerprinting/clear credentialing steps

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, ages Pre-K through transition
• Lead and collaborate with vision services staff; provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and training for new and returning colleagues
• Model and disseminate best practices in vision education, supporting problem-solving and advocacy for resources
• Function as a key support to families and school teams, ensuring student needs are met consistently across multiple campuses
• Support compliance with all relevant standards and maintain accurate student documentation
