PM is seeking a seasoned Utilities Project Manager with direct experience managing natural gas transmission pipeline projects to oversee a portfolio of capital improvement and maintenance initiatives for utility infrastructure. The role requires deep technical knowledge of gas systems, regulatory compliance, construction management, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with cross‑functional teams. Prior experience supporting major gas utilities is highly desirable.

Arrangement

Hybrid schedule with on‑site presence required four days per week (Monday–Thursday).

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute transmission pipeline and related utility projects from concept through closeout.
  • Develop project execution strategies, resource plans, and construction schedules aligned with Nicor's operational goals.
  • Review technical drawings and construction specifications for gas transmission systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes (DOT, PHMSA), environmental standards, and client safety requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and perform field oversight as needed.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects including capital upgrades, replacements, and maintenance tasks.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources across the portfolio while tracking deliverables and performance metrics.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, engineering firms, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead regular meetings and reporting sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and address project risks, technical challenges, and schedule or budget variances.
  • Lead issue resolution efforts in coordination with field and design teams.
Budget & Cost Control
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Coordinate with estimators and cost controllers to ensure alignment with approved funding.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain complete project documentation, including as‑builts, permits, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare technical progress updates, milestone reports, and compliance summaries.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of project management experience in the utilities sector with a focus on gas transmission pipelines.
  • Familiarity with gas utility regulatory frameworks (e.g., DOT 192, PHMSA).
  • Familiarity with project management platforms (Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, or pipeline modeling tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision‑making skills.
  • ERP experience preferred (Oracle or similar).

Salary: $150k – $160k / yr (1099 available)
