Senior Technology Designer – Columbus, OH

As a Senior Technology Designer you will lead design and project management for low‑voltage technology (ICT) systems in buildings.

Technical Path Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts for IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low‑voltage building systems.
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools.
  • Perform site assessments and generate technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information.
  • Provide in‑process design reviews and implement quality control processes to meet company and industry standards.
  • Mentor and train team members; resolve field issues with limited senior support.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering work and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects and project managers.
  • Participate in project interviews and presentations.
Project Management Path Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of moderate to complex scope.
  • Assist with design scopes, fee calculations, and contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules and set milestones.
  • Serve as point of contact for teams and clients.
  • Produce monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting.
  • Ensure design follows owner, company, and code requirements.
  • Schedule progress meetings and provide documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits and document findings.
  • Resolve client and construction concerns, manage change orders.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and technical concepts for low‑voltage systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of electrical voltage, current, digital/analog signals, and IT networking topologies.
  • Leadership, training, and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to perform final quality control checks.
  • Sales and client relationship development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team collaboration and problem‑solving skills.
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% and occasionally stay overnight.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in building design consulting industry (8 years preferred).
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally drive, kneel, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, grasp or pull.
  • Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $107,000 – $149,000. Pay is based on experience, knowledge, and skills. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options. IMEG offers health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), tuition reimbursement, and flexible schedules.
