Sr. System Technologist

Responsibilities

• Optimize and support complex mission‑critical communication systems.
• Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software‑driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and broadband architecture (legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure).
• Program, configure, optimize, test, and document complex communication systems.
• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
• Have strong knowledge of wired communications systems such as LAN and WAN, and be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, bridges).
• Be capable of installing server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, and troubleshooting system/application issues.
• Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support.
• Maintain total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales personnel to design, implement, optimize, and cutover advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations.

• Professional experience with IP networking, network design methodologies, and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS). Experience with Server Environments, Linux, Windows Server, and VMware is highly desirable.
• Highly computer literate with proficiency in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong self‑management skills and people skills to work closely with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Self‑motivated and self‑managed to perform duties at a distance from direct supervision.
• Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
• Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE is highly desirable.
• Previous knowledge and experience with Juniper, HP, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel is highly desirable.

• Current, valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.
• Ability to obtain background clearance required by government customers.
• English and French literacy highly preferred.
• Travel percentage over 50%.
• Excellent communication skills and professional image.

• Associate’s Degree and 3+ years’ experience in one or more of the following:
  Backhaul Networks, Fiber, MPLS, Microwave, Engineering, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, P25, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, IT, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Military experience.
• Canadian citizenship and ability to obtain required security clearance for government contracts.
