Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Customer Reliability Engineer role based in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Customer Reliability Engineer works closely with customers to improve the reliability and performance of rotating equipment and associated flow‑control technologies. Daily responsibilities include assessing equipment performance, performing root cause and failure analyses, and recommending reliability‑centered maintenance strategies. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical seal and rotating equipment issues, developing action plans to reduce unplanned downtime, and preparing technical reports and recommendations.
The Customer Reliability Engineer also collaborates with sales and service teams, supports customer training on best practices, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, and lifecycle cost performance.
- Strong foundation in Reliability Engineering, including reliability methodologies and best practices for rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting to diagnose equipment performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), including development and implementation of maintenance strategies.
- Well‑developed Analytical Skills to interpret data, trend equipment performance, and generate clear technical reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience in energy, process, or heavy industrial environments, preferably involving mechanical seals, pumps, or rotating equipment.
- Ability to work on‑site at customer facilities, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and engaging directly with customer stakeholders.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proficiency with common engineering and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, reliability software, CMMS) and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
