Job TitleSr. Project Engineer - Engine Systems
Job PurposeProgress Rail has a full‑time opening for an experienced engineer who has demonstrated ability to understand engine component design, manufacturing and salvage. This position’s primary responsibility is to lead engine and engine component designs to introduce new remanufactured engine offerings to the market. It will collaborate with marketing, product and manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and business resource teams to identify, prioritize, and execute project deliverables.
It also evaluates and develops potential salvage process technologies across the enterprise for a variety of components.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent
- Technical development of reman BOMs and components with a multidisciplinary team to drive adherence to cost, quality, and velocity targets.
- Project management of multiple technical solutions, developing schedules and managing deliverables to key timelines.
- Design and document various processes and methods to reclaim and requalify engine components.
- Familiarity with machining and assembly of complex parts and typical processes used for engine component manufacturing and salvage.
- Perform engine troubleshooting, data collection and failure analysis following the DMAIC process.
- Author, implement, and sustain engineering changes to improve product and process quality.
- Execute product implementation plans with supervisor guidance.
- Coordinate technical discussions between production, engineering, and quality personnel and drive corrective action implementation.
- 7 or more years of experience in project leadership, engineering design, New Product Introduction, and Current Product Improvement.
- Experience with remanufacturing and/or NPI program management with demonstrated leadership of complex projects on cross‑functional teams, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing.
- Working knowledge of engines or engine components.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Understanding of design and manufacturing processes.
- Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing assignments.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required, up to 20%.
