Innovative Werks, Inc. is seeking a Senior PLC / Automation Engineer to design and deploy PLC and SCADA integration solutions for power generation and critical infrastructure systems. This role supports automation and modernization projects for utility, municipal, federal, and private-sector energy infrastructure.
Technology Stack:
Rockwell Automation Control Logix / Studio 5000 PLCs, Factory Talk View HMI, SCADA platforms (Ignition, AVEVA System Platform), RTUs (SEL, Orion), industrial protocols (DNP3, Modbus, OPC), AutoCAD Electrical.
This role leads control system architecture, PLC/SCADA integration, and commissioning for infrastructure automation projects supporting power generation and grid reliability. Engineers work on projects that directly support black start capability, generation controls, and demand‑side load management systems.

- SCADA modernization for utility and industrial power infrastructure
- PLC upgrades and migration of legacy control systems
These projects support federal agencies, utilities, municipalities, and private infrastructure operators.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain PLC programs using Allen‑Bradley Studio 5000 / Logix
- Design and configure Factory Talk View HMI applications
- Develop electrical schematics and documentation using AutoCAD
- Support SCADA system architecture and integration
- Integrate PLC systems with RTUs, SCADA platforms, and telemetry infrastructure
- Implement and tune PID control strategies
- Integrate sensors, instrumentation, and control devices into automation systems
- Support SCADA data acquisition and telemetry integration
- Commission control systems including startup, testing, and validation
- Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and field device issues in operational environments
Ensure systems follow industrial wiring standards and safe control system practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA integration, or utility control systems
- Strong expertise with:
- Allen‑Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000 / Logix)
- Factory Talk View HMI development
- AutoCAD electrical design
- Demonstrated experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and PID control
- Solid understanding of industrial wiring practices, system integration, and commissioning
- Strong electro‑mechanical troubleshooting ability with a hands‑on engineering approach
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition or AVEVA
- Experience supporting power generation or utility automation systems
- Experience with RTU platforms such as SEL or Orion
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA, 61850)
