The Senior Design Squad Leader (Civil Engineer IV) supervises up to ten Civil Engineers III and manages consultant-prepared studies and plans for highway projects at the Illinois Department of Transportation. The role ensures accuracy, compliance, and cost-efficiency of engineering designs while coordinating activities across sections and overseeing subordinate personnel safety and development.
Key qualifications- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer or Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois
- Four years of experience in civil engineering
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with highway or bridge plan preparation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver's license
