Job Description

A mid-size privately held and institutionally focused real estate investment and property management firm is seeking an accounting professional to manage all facets of financial reporting for a portfolio of assigned properties. This position is ideal for an ambitious, experienced professional who seeks to join an established firm. This position will also provide the opportunity for independent initiative and judgment to improve accounting processes, procedures, financial reporting and growth in a corporate accounting and investment environment.

REAL ESTATE MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT Job Accountabilities And Responsibilities
  • Compile, review and submit monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for an assigned portfolio of properties including general ledger month end close, AR close, and balance sheet reconciliations based on a series of deadlines
  • Responsible for cash management of assigned properties
  • Able to manage various reporting requirements, due dates and property management software
  • Prepare annual audit work papers as needed
  • Assist in training, development and management of on-site accounting staff
  • Other daily property accounting duties as required – AP, AR, Due Diligence file audits etc.
Competency Requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
  • Detail-oriented with a positive and customer-centric attitude
  • Proactive, Self Sufficient with solid organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Strong understanding the importance of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office with good knowledge in Excel understanding concepts such as filtering data, use of mathematical, logical and financial functions a plus.
  • Yardi experience is preferred or other property management software
  • Real Estate Accounting or Industry experience a plus
Basic Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance not required, but encouraged
  • Strong Excel skills
  • 4-5 years of financial analysis or accounting experience
