Network Security Engineer Operational Technology (OT) (3024)
LocationDPU-E Distribution & Engineering, 1392 Aurora Ave., Suite 100
Salary$94,971.26 – $ per year, commensurate with credentials and experience. Pay Grade: E250.
Responsibilities- Assist in the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network security infrastructure such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure connectivity solutions.
- Implement best practices in compliance with NERC/CIP where applicable.
- Monitor security advisories and support application of required security updates, patches, and preventative measures across networked systems.
- Use security and diagnostic tools to conduct basic testing of services, devices, and network components to validate proper operation of patches and implemented controls.
- Review audit logs to identify potential security threats and assist in maintaining network monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and intrusion detection programs.
- Support sustainable encryption, remote access, and secure communication strategies for internal users and systems.
- Collaborate with Network Security Engineers and the broader IT team on projects involving system integration, monitoring enhancements, and defense‑in‑depth improvements.
- Assist in preparing procedures, technical documentation, diagrams, and reports to document security activities and provide reference materials.
- Help train technical support staff on security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and emerging threats to support continuous improvement of the organization’s security posture.
- Provide backup support to Network Security Engineers and System Administrators, assuming administrative responsibilities as assigned.
- Assist in resolving escalated end‑user issues and support general technical troubleshooting as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3 years of professional experience in the network security or cybersecurity fields.
- Demonstrated experience in the cybersecurity, network security, information security analysis, or cyber security fields.
- Valid Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Sec) or CompTIA Security+ certification, or the ability to obtain one of these certifications within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Valid State of Illinois driver’s license.
