Lead Analytical Engineer

A fast-growing financial services organisation is looking for a Lead Analytical Engineer to play a pivotal role in bridging data engineering and analytics. This position sits within a lean, high-impact data team responsible for building scalable data models and enabling data-driven decision-making across the business. The role is highly business-facing, with strong ownership and visibility across leadership and product stakeholders.

• Own the design and development of scalable data models and curated datasets for analytics and business use.
• Lead the build-out and optimisation of data marts and warehouse layers using modern ELT practices.
• Develop advanced SQL transformations (CTEs, window functions) and support Python-based data workflows where needed.
• Partner closely with Business Analysts, BI teams, and stakeholders to translate business questions into robust data models.
• Drive initiatives such as improving data architecture, enabling new analytics use cases, and enhancing reporting capabilities.
• Ensure data quality through testing frameworks (e.g., dbt), monitoring, and governance best practices.
• Provide leadership in defining analytics engineering best practices and influencing data strategy.
• Operate in a highly agile, fast-paced environment with significant ownership across multiple projects.

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a similar role.
• Advanced SQL expertise (complex joins, CTEs, window functions) and strong experience building data models.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and modern ELT/analytics engineering practices (e.g., dbt).
• Experience with AWS in a production environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills; ability to translate business needs into data solutions.
• Proven ownership mindset with the ability to operate in a lean, fast-moving environment.
