Journey is partnering with an established, high-growth 3PL freight brokerage to hire an experienced Senior Carrier Sales Representative for its Chicago operation. Our client operates a significant North American freight network and is investing in strategic carrier development to create more consistent, dedicated and profitable capacity across its customer base.
Compensation:$70k - $85k base + commission/variable compensation
Location:On-site daily - downtown Chicago, IL (required, this position is not remote or hybrid)

This is a strategic carrier-development role, not purely transactional load coverage.
Responsibilities:- Develop strategic relationships with core carriers identifying fleet size, equipment availability, operating regions, lane preferences, and backhaul opportunities
- Secure dedicated and committed capacity through effective negotiation
- Collaborate with Sales and Account Management teams to design transportation solutions for account expansion and network optimization
- Uncover new lane opportunities, modal expansion, dedicated fleet solutions, and mutually beneficial growth initiatives
- Establish, monitor, and communicate KPI's for strategic carrier partners, including service performance, on-time pickup and delivery, acceptance rates, tracking compliance, and profitability
- Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews with strategic carriers
- Drive continuous improvement by implementing strategic initiatives that enhance service, increase capacity, reduce costs, and support the company's long-term growth strategy
- 4+ years of experience in a Carrier Sales/Carrier Procurement role within a 3pl non asset-based brokerage
- 5+ years of 3pl brokerage experience
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced brokerage environment and working on-site in Chicago Monday-Friday
- Hands-on experience with Drop Trailer, FTL Dry Van, Flatbed, and Expedited freight preferred
- Proven ability to source and secure capacity on challenging or hard-to-cover lanes
- Experience developing repeat/core carrier relationships, not solely transactional load-board coverage
- Strong understanding of freight markets, carrier pricing, lane economics and margin
