Position: Quality Technician (Naperville, IL)

Location: Naperville, IL (Onsite)

Schedule: Standard Business Hours

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Pay Rate: $24.50 – $28.50/hr

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Quality Technician to support manufacturing and production operations on an initial 12-month contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and evaluating parts, materials, and assembled products to ensure they meet defined specifications and quality standards. Working across the full inspection lifecycle, you will identify defects and deviations, document findings accurately, and help uphold the integrity of production output.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, data sheets, and other documentation to determine applicable specifications, testing procedures, and the appropriate measuring instruments required.
  • Inspect, test, and measure materials, components, installations, and finished products against established specifications to verify conformance.
  • Measure product dimensions using precision instruments including rulers, calipers, gauges, and micrometers, ensuring output falls within required tolerances.
  • Analyse test data and perform necessary calculations to determine whether results meet acceptance criteria.
  • Record and maintain accurate inspection and test data, including weights, temperatures, grades, moisture content, and quantities inspected.
  • Mark items clearly with relevant details such as quality grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Identify and set aside non-conforming products, materials, and equipment that fail to meet specifications, following established rejection and disposition procedures.
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent vocational training and hands‑on experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a quality control, quality assurance, or manufacturing inspection role.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Solid understanding of quality control principles and production processes, with working knowledge of raw materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Familiarity with basic machine and tool operation, maintenance, and safe use.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a methodical, detail‑oriented approach to inspection work.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills; able to document findings accurately and liaise effectively with production and engineering teams.
  • Collaborative team player who can work reliably within a structured manufacturing environment.
