Position: School Nurse (LPN) - San Luis Obispo, California

Overview

Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and minimum 1+ years Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school-based LVN position is available in San Luis Obispo, CA, supporting an 8th grade male student with complex eating and emotional disorders. This contract role spans from February 17, 2026, to April 2, 2026, with the possibility of extension, requiring onsite presence at a middle school. The position involves working 32.5 hours per week, with a daily schedule of seven hours and a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one nursing care to an 8th grade student with specialized health needs.
  • Monitor and support the student’s eating disorder and emotional well-being.
  • Perform nursing duties in alignment with a comprehensive care plan.
  • Potentially serve as part of an LVN pool to cover other students’ urgent or short-term care needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care.
Qualifications and Experience
  • California LVN license required.
  • Experience in mental health nursing highly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and compassionately with students facing emotional and medical challenges.

  • Prior experience in a school nursing environment or with pediatric behavioral health is advantageous.
