Job Description Job Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing and managing the nursing department within the healthcare facility. This includes ensuring high standards of patient care, developing and implementing nursing policies, managing nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities Leadership and Management
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the nursing staff.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment
Patient Care
  • Ensure high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Develop and implement patient care programs and services.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvements as needed.
  • Address and resolve patient complaints and concerns
Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies
Budget and Resource Management
  • Develop and manage the nursing department budget.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and manage inventory of supplies.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures
Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Communicate effective with staff, patients, and families
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ASN / BSN) required
  • Licensure: Current RN license Illinois
Skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing practices and healthcare regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed
