Developmental Training Nurse

Full Time Nursing

Make a Difference Every Day

Looking for a nursing role with a school-nurse feel?

At Misericordia, the Developmental Training (DT) Nurse is a unique nursing assignment supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while they participate in their daytime programming. Much like a school nurse, you serve as the clinical point person during the program day: managing scheduled medications, assessing residents who become ill or have a medical concern, triaging needs, and communicating important information back to the resident's primary/area nurse.

Rather than carrying a traditional inpatient or long-term-care assignment, you support residents as they take part in their daily programming and help ensure that medical needs arising during the day are appropriately assessed, addressed, and communicated back to their residential nursing team.

This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys assessment, triage, medication management, communication, and working independently in a structured daytime environment.

Why Join Misericordia?

  • Meaningful work: Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living full and meaningful lives.
  • Make an impact: Be the clinical point person who makes sure medical needs during the program day are assessed, addressed, and communicated.
  • Supportive team: Work alongside area nurses, program staff, and other professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Career growth: Take advantage of professional training and opportunities to grow throughout the organization.
  • Competitive pay: Earn $36.50 to $48.00 per hour.
  • Education support: Take advantage of tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.

As a Developmental Training Nurse, You Will:

  • Serve as the clinical point person during the Developmental Training program day
  • Manage and administer scheduled medications
  • Assess residents who become ill or have a medical concern
  • Prioritize and triage multiple resident needs independently
  • Communicate important information back to the resident's primary/area nurse and residential nursing team
  • Ensure medical needs arising during the day are appropriately addressed and communicated
  • Support person-centered care for individuals with IDD as they participate in daily programming

Training and Professional Development

  • Strong nursing assessment and communication skills
  • Ability to independently prioritize and triage multiple resident needs
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), school nursing, community nursing, long-term care, or similar settings is helpful but not required
  • Commitment to person-centered care and supporting individuals with IDD in living full and meaningful lives

Pay

  • $36.50 – $48.00 per hour
