Lab Technician

Location: Naperville, Illinois (Onsite)

The main function of this role is to perform a variety of routine laboratory operations to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of materials. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with teammates to complete interdependent tasks and take part in troubleshooting challenges when needed. All roles require logging and setup of samples, working in the laboratory to gather results, and recording the results consistently and accurately in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

• Perform a variety of routine lab operations to assist a team processing more than 100,000 samples annually for detection of Legionella, working with technical direction from a supervisor.
• Handle data entry of customer and sample information.
• File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports.
• Respond to incoming correspondence, including email and phone messages.
• Perform light laboratory tasks such as storing and disposing of completed samples.
• Filter and plate water samples according to ISO standard methods.
• Prepare supplies for routine testing.
• Restock lab supplies and perform routine laboratory cleaning.
• Receive samples in the building and open packages.

Education: A degree in biology, chemistry, or a relevant field is required.

Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in the time allowed.
