Job Overview

Hourly Pay Range: $18.84 - $27.32. Position:
Public Safety Officer.

Location:

Linden Oaks Hospital – Naperville, IL.
Full Time – 40hrs per week, Nights 6:00pm – 6:00am, Days Sunday – Wednesday.

• Provide unarmed uniformed security and safety services under general supervision and established policies.
• Patrol assigned areas of the facility and grounds on foot or in a motorized vehicle according to schedule, investigating unusual occurrences.
• Report incidents or potential loss of hospital, employee, patient or visitor property (fire, theft, vandalism) and involve police when necessary, providing assistance during investigations.
• Respond to all service calls in a timely, safe, professional and courteous manner.
• Welcome customers to the hospital and provide timely, accurate directions to patients and visitors.
• Escort individuals when possible and direct vehicle traffic around the hospital to prevent congestion.
• Ensure loading docks and ambulance unloading zones are clear of unauthorized vehicles at all times, issue parking citations to improperly parked vehicles, and maintain records of citations.
• Physically restrain unruly patients or visitors and individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others, and involve police when necessary, providing assistance including court testimony.
• Administer control systems to protect patient and employee valuables, hospital equipment and supplies, and monitor handling of lost and found items.
• Check that hospital doors and windows are securely locked, and inspect equipment, alarms, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment to verify proper functioning.
• Notify appropriate personnel of problems as needed, investigate and document thefts, accidents and other incidents to gather evidence and determine individuals involved, and prepare required documentation accurately and neatly.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a customer‑focused service organization.
• Basic knowledge of law enforcement, military, or private security, with a minimum of two years of experience.
• Experience in a healthcare environment.
• Fundamental understanding of computers, loss prevention, and fire/security technology.
• Valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card within 90 days of start date.
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days of start date.
• Valid driver’s license and, if using a personal vehicle, automobile liability coverage as required by law.
• Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention certification within six months of hire (CPI).
• Attainment of International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Healthcare Security Officer certification within twelve months of start date (preferred).
