Job Description Mobile Trailer & Truck Fleet Technician Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Trailer & Truck Fleet Technician to provide on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment. This position involves traveling to customer locations to perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency roadside repairs while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with air brake systems, electrical troubleshooting, trailer repairs, and DOT compliance inspections.
Key Responsibilities Repairs & Maintenance- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial trucks and trailers.
- Repair and replace brake chambers, slack adjusters, brake components, airlines, and related systems.
- Adjust and inspect air brake systems to ensure safe operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance services on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair lighting and electrical systems, including stop, tail, turn, and marker lights.
- Troubleshoot air systems, suspension components, and trailer accessories.
- Complete emergency roadside service calls as needed.
- Conduct DOT inspections and safety checks.
- Respond to customer locations for mobile repair services.
- Document all repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Communicate findings and repair recommendations to management and customers.
- Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures.
- Properly secure vehicles before repairs.
- Use wheel chocks, jack stands, and proper lockout/tagout procedures when applicable.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Experience as a diesel, trailer, or fleet technician.
- Strong knowledge of commercial truck and trailer air brake systems.
- Experience performing brake adjustments and brake chamber replacements.
- Knowledge of trailer electrical systems and lighting circuits.
- Ability to diagnose and repair air leaks and air-operated systems.
- Ability to read service manuals, diagrams, and repair procedures.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
- ASE Certifications.
- DOT Inspection Certification.
- Previous mobile technician or roadside service experience.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Any additional details specific to this job (weekends off, lots of OT, direct hire opportunity, etc.)
