# Field Technician IPart-time Kankakee County / Will County Field Service $18## About This Role We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Field Technician I to join our growing team. In this entry-to-mid level role, you will play a critical part in delivering high-quality lighting installations that transform homes and properties. You will handle job preparation, professional equipment installation, and basic system troubleshooting across our three core service lines:

- Permanent Lighting Installation (LED pixel and track systems)- Landscape Lighting Installation
- Holiday Lighting Decorating This is a hands-on outdoor role ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys physical work outdoors, and wants to be part of a premium lighting company known for superior quality and customer experience.## Responsibilities
* Job Preparation:
* Load and organize vehicles with proper materials, tools, and equipment.
* Review job packets, pre-measurements, and installation plans.
* Equipment Installation:
* Install permanent lighting systems including track, individually addressable LED pixels, data controllers, and power supplies (following our detailed soffit/peak installation protocols, wire routing, and grommet standards).
* Install landscape lighting fixtures, wiring, and transformers.
* Hang, install, and later remove holiday lighting decorations with precision and care for the customer’s property.
* Basic Troubleshooting:
* Diagnose and resolve common issues with lighting systems, controllers, and connections on-site.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work site at all times.
* Provide excellent on-site customer communication and represent The Starlight Project brand with integrity.
* Complete post-installation checks and assist with system commissioning and customer handoff when needed.
* Follow all safety protocols and company installation standards.## Qualifications
* Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (company vehicles provided).
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (ladders, heights, seasonal work).
* Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
* Basic electrical knowledge or willingness to learn lighting systems is preferred.
* Physical fitness – ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders, and be on your feet for extended periods.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small crew.
* Previous experience in construction, electrical, landscaping, or holiday lighting is a plus but not required – we will train the right candidate.## Benefits
