Sunrise Transportation is a rapidly growing, private equity backed, transportation company and is currently hiring an Automotive Fleet Technician at our Naperville location with experience working on gasoline and/or diesel engines. The company has grown rapidly through both organic expansion and acquisition of other student transportation companies. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

We are not only looking for amazing team members who will help us in the mission to move our children forward but want someone who wants to move their career! We are currently looking for an Automotive Fleet Technician who will work under the direction of the Service Manager performing preventative maintenance, safety inspections and repairs.

What we’ll trust you with
  • Perform preventative inspections and general maintenance including fluid changes, brakes, and tires.
  • Prepare units for IDOT inspections.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair engine and engine components.
  • Check and maintain bus safety systems such as 8-way lighting, stop arm and cross walk.
  • Camera and GPS systems maintenance
  • Maintain and process work orders.
What matters most for this role
  • High school degree required, associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl, and smell.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
  • May be exposed to water, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience with maintenance software programs or other related systems a plus
  • Wheelchair lift or hydraulic systems experience a plus
  • Must pass a background check and drug test.
Competencies
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • 1 or more years’ experience with engine diagnostics and general automotive maintenance
  • Experience with school bus bodies a plus
