Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Logistics Specialist is responsible for maintaining effective communication with carriers, track, and trace shipments, ensure load requirements are met, coordinating and scheduling shipments, and assist in maintaining customer relationships. Essential FunctionsDUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains appropriate communication methods with each carrier to ensure all load requirements are understood and achieved.
- Actively tracks and traces all truck loads to monitor shipment status and provides timely updates along with tracking PO numbers to maintain accurate records for orders.
- Ensures status entry and load updates are entered into the system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Schedules appointments for truck loads to ensure efficient delivery and pickup schedules.
- Identifies appropriate carriers for each load and ensures load requirements are met according to company standards.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with carriers, monitors carrier performance, and addresses any issues promptly.
- Coordinates between operations teams and escalates concerns to appropriate channels and teams.
- Compiles a list of all truck load activity and communicates it to other teams to ensure continuity of operations.
- Tracks all damages, shortages, and overages and communicates them to the appropriate parties for resolution.
- Ensure carrier information is input accurately into the company software system to maintain data integrity.
- Assists with onboarding of new carriers and ensures company compliance standards are met by the carriers.
- Handles order entry of truck loads along with maintaining records of truck loads, cancellations, and any adjustments made to truck loads.
- Prepares and distributes pickup reports for truck loads weekly.
- Coordinates with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of transportation activities.
- Generates and distributes reports such as truck load reports of orders and KeHE groupings report to teams and/or stakeholders to ensure tracking and documentation information is accurate.
- Tracks carrier performance

- May be required to answer phone calls after scheduled work hours and/or weekends as needed by company.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
- Ability to work after scheduled work hours and/or on weekends.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
