The Residence Hall Coordinator (RC) is a twelve-month, live-in professional position in Residence Life, who reports directly to the Area Coordinator (AC). The essential duties include supervision of student staff, management of programming efforts of Resident Assistants, hosting building-wide programming initiatives, assisting with departmental projects and initiatives, and participation in an on-call duty rotation. In this highly visible position, the RC works to create inclusive communities through programming, conduct meetings, and one-on-one interactions with resident students.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Supervision
Provide supervision to paraprofessional RA staff through weekly staff and individual meetings, ongoing staff development opportunities, recognition of RA staff, and staff accountability. Assist with departmental RA trainings. - Administrative
Responsible for reviewing and processing all building forms in housing software including overnight guests, lock-outs, work orders, and RA duty logs. Assist with departmental communications including responding to emails. Represent the department during major recruitment events such as Open Houses. - Programming
Approve in-hall programming efforts from RAs, track programming numbers, forms, budgets, and make purchases of program supplies. Attend evening programming, assist with brainstorming programming ideas with RA staff, and provide logistical setup support for RA events. Train and support RAs in strategic event marketing plans and collaborate with departments across campus to provide quality programming and in-hall initiatives. Create and manage building-wide programming initiatives. - Behavioral Intervention and Management
Enforce University community standards by meeting with students that have violated policy or have difficulties adhering to policies. Use student conduct software to input incident reports and send student conduct letters, assign appropriate charges and violations. Participate in on-call duty rotation including hours during which the office is closed and on weekends. Respond to various student conduct incidents. Mediate roommate and community issues among students.
Conduct regular health and safety checks of the residence hall. - Facilities Management
Assist with opening and closing of residence halls, documenting damage billing, reporting building facilities issues and addressing furniture concerns. Serve as building manager and primary contact for the building.
