Responsible and accountable for the life cycle management of Project Engineering and Commissioning performance associated with multiple Electric T&D Projects from time of conception through completion and turnover to operations. Lead and ensure that engineering, design, and commissioning objectives are achieved within approved scopes, budgets, schedules, and safely.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead engineering conceptual studies for project scope and constructability in concert with planning and project management teams.
- Maintain project engineering plans and schedules for adherence to department balanced scorecard targets, conduct project reviews, resolve issues and ensure that the project engineering plans are professionally and comprehensively planned and executed.
- As required, represent the Company before the General Public and Public Officials and Planning / Zoning Boards and other Regulatory Bodies, including testimony, to gain necessary project approvals.
- Oversee testing and commissioning team / activities to ensure alignment with station / equipment design and standards.
- Lead and direct project engineers and commissioning engineers in their performance of assigned projects and job duties, including scope development, project estimating, engineering, design, testing, and commissioning.
- Responsible and accountable for adherence to budgets, schedules, and balance including scorecard milestones, and safety targets.
- The successful candidate will be required to lead and manage a group of engineers and provide coaching, mentoring, guidance, and performance appraisals.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or advanced degree in power systems engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in substation design and engineering.
- Experience with overseeing electrical equipment testing and commissioning activities including reviewing electrical test results.
- Prior leadership experience with direct reports.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, mentor, and develop both the technical and professional skills of direct reports.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable codes (e.g., ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, etc) and extensive knowledge of Company and Industry substation engineering and design standards.
- Extensive knowledge of design, construction, and operation of all substation equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems through mature judgment, creativity, and originality, by utilizing and adapting a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in the NEMS system and oversight of engineering financial records and transactions.
- Experience working with Plant Accounting and ensuring SOX compliance.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in the McLaren Work Manager System.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of ensuring NERC CIP 13 regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining a safe working environment and implementing safety related improvements.
- Strong knowledge of the PSE&G Project Lifecycle from Project Origination through Closeout including all Engineering and Commissioning responsibilities.
- Available for 24/7/365 emergency response.
- Must possess valid driver's license.
Desired Qualifications
- PE License or advanced degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
- Knowledge and experience using substation design software relating to Arc Flash, Grounding, Lightning, Bus Design, Lighting (Illumination), Conductor Sizing and Rating, Cable Pulling.
- Experience reviewing engineering calculation reports.
- Prior PSE&G leadership experience with MAST direct reports.
- Experience with drafting software such as Micro Station or AutoCAD.
