GIS Mapper
Our client is seeking a GIS Mapper to support the maintenance and accuracy of electric utility mapping systems. This position is responsible for updating and maintaining GIS records associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of utility assets. Candidates with GIS experience from utilities, telecommunications, engineering, municipal, or academic environments are encouraged to apply.
- Maintain and update GIS data using information from work orders, as-built drawings, completion records, field reports, and other source documentation.
- Edit, update, and modify geospatial data within GIS applications.
- Maintain the electric utility GIS model and ensure the accuracy of asset connectivity and mapping information.
- Perform GIS analysis, data queries, and create maps, reports, charts, and tabulations.
- Produce standard and custom map products to support engineering, operations, and field personnel.
- Maintain service point data and relationships to feeding source transformers.
- Track utility asset history, inspections, attachments, and related records.
- Resolve mapping, connectivity, land, and data discrepancies through office research and occasional field investigation.
- Support projects involving facility relocations, load rearrangements, and new business installations.
- Process work orders and system updates in a union work environment.
- Operate office equipment including plotters, printers, scanners, and related devices.
- Provide support for field and office operations as needed.
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of GIS experience gained through employment, internships, or academic coursework.
- Experience using GIS software and understanding spatial relationships within GIS databases.
- Ability to edit, update, and maintain geospatial data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between work locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting electric utility, telecommunications, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Micro Station is a plus.
- GIS editing and modification experience is desired but not required.
- Experience creating custom maps and performing GIS analysis.
Important Work Arrangement
Candidates must be available to work onsite full-time during the initial training period. Training typically lasts 6 to 12 weeks, with a minimum expectation of 8 weeks onsite. After training, qualified individuals may be introduced to a hybrid schedule based on business needs, workload, and demonstrated ability to work independently. Employees will also participate in a weekly rotation to a secondary location for print distribution activities.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
