Civil Superintendent

The Civil Superintendent will play a critical role in overseeing heavy civil and structural operations while coordinating closely with electrical scopes of work. This position is responsible for managing subcontractors, supervising field operations, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards. The role requires strong leadership, coordination across disciplines, and the ability to deliver complex projects successfully from start to finish.

• Oversee heavy civil and electrical operations, ensuring seamless integration between both disciplines on active projects.
• Manage daily field operations by directing foremen, journeymen, laborers, and craft workers.
• Approve labor rates and allocate workforce resources to maintain efficiency and productivity.
• Lead contract administration and coordination meetings with subcontractors and field management teams.
• Review job cost reports and financial projections to ensure both civil and electrical scopes remain within budget.
• Review, approve, and negotiate change orders related to civil and electrical work.
• Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and recommend staffing adjustments as needed.
• Review and interpret RFPs, construction drawings, and specifications to fully understand project scope and requirements.
• Collaborate with the electrical estimating team on means and methods, value engineering ideas, and execution strategy.
• Develop preliminary and detailed project schedules.
• Complete or compile material takeoffs for civil scope estimates.
• Coordinate subcontractor and permanent material pricing to ensure scope clarity and cost accuracy.
• Establish labor wages, production rates, and unit pricing for civil tasks.

• Minimum of 10 years of construction experience, including estimating exposure.
• At least 3 years in a Superintendent or leadership role with heavy civil project focus.
• Experience working on projects involving both civil and electrical scopes is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience with public agencies and transportation authorities is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, field teams, and multiple work streams.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to evolving project demands.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong background in safety, contract administration, planning, and negotiation.
