Job Overview

Komatsu Company-Owned Dealer East is a major distributor of Komatsu and Allied OEM heavy construction equipment in the northeast and is owned by Komatsu America Corporation. The Regional EHS Manager is responsible for leading and managing environmental, health, and safety programs across 11 OEM owned Komatsu dealership locations in MD, PA, NJ, NY, and DE to ensure regulatory compliance and safe working conditions.

This role drives the implementation, refinement, and continuous improvement of EHS initiatives, policies, and best management practices while partnering closely with operations leadership to achieve performance objectives. The position plays a critical role in advancing the organization beyond basic compliance by reducing risk, preventing pollution, minimizing waste, and controlling workers' compensation and regulatory-related costs. The Regional EHS Manager serves as a key liaison with internal stakeholders, customers, and external regulatory agencies such as OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and DOT.

With significant visibility across all levels of the organization, this role influences culture change by integrating EHS into core business processes and promoting employee engagement and accountability. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting audits, investigations, training programs, and ISO-based EHS systems across the region.

This position is required to be onsite 4-days per week at one of our branches. Ideally the position will be located in South Plainfield, NJ or Hatfield, PA.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure regulatory compliance and safe working conditions.
  • Implement, refine, and drive continuous improvement of EHS initiatives, policies, and best management practices aligned with corporate, regional, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with operations leadership to integrate EHS into core business processes, influence culture change, and improve overall EHS performance beyond regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DOT), including oversight of permits, inspections, reporting, and interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Lead incident investigations, corrective action implementation, and workers' compensation management to reduce injuries, claims, and associated costs.
  • Drive pollution prevention, waste minimization, and environmental compliance initiatives to reduce operational risk and facility operating costs.
  • Lead and support EHS audits (internal, corporate, ISO 45001/14001, and external), ensuring timely closure of findings and effective documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, coaching, and mentoring to managers, supervisors, and employees on EHS requirements, programs, and safe work practices.
  • Serve as a key internal and external liaison with customers, EHS professionals, consultants, and professional organizations to align EHS expectations and best practices.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field, or a minimum of 10 years of progressive EHS experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards applicable to general industry and mining operations, including OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading EHS programs, regulatory compliance efforts, audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple facilities or regions.
  • Strong understanding of EHS management systems and auditing practices, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 frameworks.
