Position Overview
R – Production Associate (Cylinder Filler).
Location:
South Plainfield, NJ (Plant).
Pay range: $28.50 – $31.25 per hour. Shift: 2nd Shift (1pm – 9:30pm), Monday–Friday.
Responsibilities- Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high‑pressure cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations and Airgas SOPs.
- Review and ensure cylinders prior to filling, following established guidelines to meet government, Airgas, and distributor standards.
- Conduct safety checks (odor tests, caps, valves) and analyze products for purity and correct mixtures.
- Maintain high‑pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders, prepare cryogenic vessels for filling.
- Attach to manifold, evacuate cylinders to ensure excellent quality and purity.
- Fill cylinders by pressure and weight per regulations and standards.
- Assist with loading/unloading cylinders on/off pallets and tractor trailers.
- Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
- Maintain accurate records to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
- Complete quality control sheets as required.
- Identify hazards of gases, read and interpret cylinder labels and colour‑coding to support accurate labeling.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High‑school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Prior experience utilizing SAP or a similar ERP system.
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Knowledge of Airgas safety programs, OSHA regulations, and related procedures applicable to this position.
- Minimum of one year of related technical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
