At Allen Flavors, we’re passionate about creating high-quality flavor solutions—and our Quality Control team plays a critical role in making that happen. We’re seeking a Quality Control Analytical Lab Technician to help ensure our products meet the highest standards, from raw ingredients to finished formulations.
What You’ll DoIn this role, you’ll be a key player in ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy across our lab operations:
Perform physical testing including refractive index, specific gravity, pH, and moisture
Evaluate the color, aroma, and taste of ingredients (yes, your senses matter!)Analyze incoming flavor ingredients using GC/MS, GC-FID, FTIR, and other analytical techniques
Investigate and support root cause analysis for non-conforming materials
Maintain detailed records of incoming materials and verify consistency with established standards
Retain and manage samples for traceability and compliance
Re-evaluate expired materials and determine appropriate disposition
Approve or reject raw materials in internal systems
Collaborate closely with the QC team on material status and quality issues
Monitor, maintain, and verify performance of analytical instruments
Communicate equipment issues and ensure proper documentation
Support company programs including HACCP, SQF, Food Safety, and Food Defense Follow and uphold laboratory SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
Pitch in where needed and serve as the primary backup to the QC Analytical Chemistry team performing all other duties as assigned
We’re looking for someone who combines technical know-how with curiosity, precision, and teamwork:
Education & Experience Qualified candidates with Food Science/Chemistry/Biology/ Applied Sciences must have a 4-year BS Degree, or over 4 years related industry experience.
1-2 years of relevant industry experience
Experience in an analytical or product development lab, ideally in flavor, fragrance, food, beverage, or consumer products
Skills & Strengths Familiarity with sensory evaluation and linking analytical data to sensory profiles
Strong attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities—independently and as part of a team Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Working knowledge of flavor chemicals is a plus
