Project Manager I – GEC (HNTB)

Lead multidisciplinary program management tasks and client coordination for the Maine Turnpike Authority, supporting highway design, traffic, bridge engineering, tolling, technology, planning, and asset management initiatives.

• Develop project scope and fee quotation and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts under HNTB’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
• Serve as primary client liaison, manage project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budget to client satisfaction, and assist with scoping and contract negotiations.
• Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reporting, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
• Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA), lead development and execution of the project management plan, and supervise and mentor the team toward project objectives.
• Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning, and support performance and compensation reviews.
• Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to support business development, build client relationships, and pursue strategic and mini‑mega projects, preparing proposals and presentation materials.
• Possibly recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff, including developing reporting plans and reviewing performance and compensation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Use system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver smaller projects or task orders.
• Provide technical guidance to team and task leads and perform portions of technical work.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of task management or Deputy Project Manager experience.

• Experience delivering smaller projects on time, within budget, and to customer satisfaction.
• Ability to identify and raise risk and change‑management issues with appropriate oversight.
• Leadership of a small project or task order with minimal or no subconsultants.
• Proficiency using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver projects or task orders.
• Experience implementing sophisticated processes through the Office Management Team.
• Collaboration with client‑level peers on smaller projects or task orders.
• Providing technical guidance to team leads and performing technical work portions.

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• 10 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
