Senior Assistant Superintendent

Northeast Harbor Golf Club is seeking a motivated Junior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to serve as the third-in-command and future day-to-day operational lead at our historic coastal Maine golf course.

Founded in 1895, NEHGC is an 18-hole facility featuring original designs by Arthur Lockwood (1916) and Herbert Strong (1925). Though measuring just 5,602 yards, the course provides a strategic challenge with undulating fairways and small greens. Once a hidden gem, the club has seen increased play and continues to invest in long-term course improvements.

The Senior Assistant Superintendent will normally be overseeing day-to-day operations. We will go over our plan for the week, and work together to make sure we can get it done as best as we can after mother nature throws its usual curveballs at us throughout the week. The position does much of the crew training for standard operations, and along with the Superintendent, trains the Jr Assistant and Interns as we go through the season.

In the 2027 season, the Assistant Superintendent is expected to fully manage day-to-day golf course operations while the Superintendent oversees a full irrigation system installation, offering a rare opportunity to lead during a major capital project with mentorship and support.

• Fall 2025 completed pond enlargement (0.3 ac → 0.9 ac) to serve as irrigation water source
• Full irrigation system replacement in 2027, including HDPE piping, two-wire control, and installation by National Golf Sprinkler
• Ongoing tee rebuilds, frost-heave repairs, and bunker relocations.
