ADUSA Transportation is the transportation company of Ahold Delhaize USA, providing transportation services to one of the largest grocery retail supply chains in the nation. ADUSA Transportation delivers fresh and nonperishable products to local brand stores and supports the sustainability of the supply chain by returning recyclable items to recycling centers for processing.
Primary Purpose
To supervise the transportation department including set-up, dispatch, drivers, and scheduling. Special emphasis is placed on problems relating directly to drivers. Direct authority over drivers and dispatch/set up staff. Indirect authority over dispatch supervisor.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in planning/coordinating the scheduling of deliveries.
- Monitor reports to ensure specific goals regarding speed, idle and RPM are being met by our drivers.
- Monitor the miles per gallon fuel consumption reports to ensure specific goals are being met. Train, coach and counsel driver associates on Progressive Shifting Techniques to improve individual and fleet MPG.
- Handle phone calls and e-mail from retail customers regarding scheduling, load problems, missing products, special orders, dropping trailers, etc.
- Create Driver Schedules.
- Be available to handle problems/questions and help all associates with personal and professional issues.
- Supervise the dispatch function to ensure that proper procedures are being used to ensure fairness to all drivers (to include balancing of hours).
- Work with other supervisors and departments within the facility to maintain production standards set by the company.
- Complete vehicle and industrial accident reports.
- Complete asset inventory as needed. Manage assets daily.
- Participate in the monthly accident review committee meetings as needed.
- Aggressively pursue waste and inefficiencies in their operation.
- Target potential improvements and work with teams to improve working environment and product throughput.
- Act as "change agent" to drive "lean" education and utilization.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with TMS and supporting systems
- Familiarity/experience in a transportation/distribution environment
- Basic understanding of business financial reports and information
- Knowledge of company standard practices
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
- Supervise or manage multiple tasks and shift priorities in fast pace environment
- Communicate and complete required record keeping functions
- Articulate and align associates with department and business goals
- Work needed schedule to perform assigned duties
- Ability to work in a –5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time
Preferred Requirements
- 1 – 3 years distribution warehouse experience
- High School Education or equivalent
