Job SummaryThe District Learning Coach provides professional development and on-site support to teachers, school mentors, and school-based instructional coaches in grades K-12. The District Learning Coach provides induction for teachers new to Granite School District including on-boarding and supporting summer New Teacher Orientation. The coach also provides support to interns and non-professionally licensed teachers in elementary and secondary positions as they work to complete their licensure program.
EssentialFunctions
- Builds the capacity of instructional coaches and mentors by providing ongoing training, consultation, and side-by-side support in coaching cycles and mentoring practices.
- Conducts non-evaluative observations and coaching cycles to support the growth of coaches, provisional teachers, and non-professionally licensed teachers.
- Models the effective use of research-based instructional strategies and adult learning principles during professional learning sessions.
- Designs and facilitates induction content for teachers new to Granite School District, including the summer New Teacher Orientation.
- Collaborates with district departments and school leadership to ensure coaching support is aligned with district standards and school improvement goals.
- Curates and creates research-based instructional resources, tools, and learning materials to support the implementation of effective coaching and teaching practices across the district.
- Maintains accurate records of coaching, mentoring, and teacher intervention for assigned schools.
- Guides the support process for provisional teachers with support plans of intervention at assigned schools.
- Coordinates with district and state National Board Certification representatives and maintains accurate certification records.
- Attends and conducts required evening professional learning classes throughout the school year, including Mentor Academy and department-specific courses.
- Maintains effective professional working relationships with school administrators, teachers, district staff, and university partners.
- Positively collaborates with department colleagues on all assumed and assigned tasks.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates in appropriate educator evaluation procedures as per district guidelines.
- Understands and adheres to laws, district policies, and procedures.
- Maintains effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community.
- Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
