The General Education Para educator Specialist provides training and support for designated para educators and School Library Media Clerks. This role involves designing and delivering professional learning on behavior management, student engagement, small-group instruction, and math practice.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates knowledge of research-based strategies regarding behavior management, student engagement, and small-group instruction, aligning these practices to the specific roles of para educators and School Library Media Clerks.
- Supports para educators and clerks by providing research-based resources, training modules, and on-site modeling to ensure effective implementation of support strategies in the classroom.
- Works closely with the Teacher Onboarding and Instructional Coaching Department and other district teams to provide continuity of practices and district-wide alignment.
- Conducts site visits to observe, coach, and communicate with staff regarding professional growth and the implementation of training concepts.
- Maintains accurate data and records regarding training attendance and the effectiveness of professional development initiatives.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates in department and district meetings as required.
- Participates in appropriate educator evaluation procedures as per district guidelines.
- Participates in relevant committees and supports district-wide initiatives as assigned.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community.
- Understands and adheres to laws, district policies, and procedures.
- Maintains effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community.
- Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.

- Strong knowledge of lesson design and instructional strategies.
- Focus on implementation of the Utah Core Standards with research-based practices.
- Skills in data collection for classroom management, lesson design, lesson delivery, and student engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively and establish positive relationships with teachers, mentors, union representatives and administrators.
- Ability to build the knowledge and skill level of entry level education professionals.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others toward excellent performance.
