Overview
Traffic Systems Engineer I (Finance) — Trans Core (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Traffic Systems Engineer to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Job Summary: The Traffic Systems Engineer provides support to our Trans Suite users and the Trans Suite development team to resolve customer issues. This position will require occasional travel (approximately 15%) within North America.
Responsibilities- Diagnosis of customer identified issues with the Trans Suite operation or integration with field equipment.
- Work with the Trans Suite software development and QA teams to verify updated or new software.
- Installation and update of Trans Suite software in multiple environments.
- Provide customer training on the use of Trans Suite software.
- Assisting customers and development staff with installation and configuration of field equipment to work with Trans Suite software such as:
- Intersection controllers
- Dynamic Message signs
- CCTV cameras
- Vehicle detection systems
- Diagnosing and correcting field communication and field equipment configuration problems
- Creating and maintaining clear and complete documentation of the configuration at each site.
- Assisting customers with strategies to use their ATMS to meet their operational goals
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Civil Engineering (with a specialty in Transportation), or related fields.
- Individuals who may be a Civil/Transportation engineer should have a strong aptitude and desire to work with computer and software systems as this will comprise a considerable portion of their work tasks. On the job training can be provided to provide the right candidate with the computer and software skill set required.
- Working knowledge in the following areas:
- Integration and configuration of network edge devices into a network.
- TCP/UDP/IP network configurations and how to use network analyzers.
- Network management technologies
- Experience in managing physical and virtual servers.
- Experience in managing Windows Server and Linux operating systems
- Programming languages for databases like SQL
- Task automation and scripting tools
- Ability to learn features of unfamiliar software packages with documentation.
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work with end users and customers on technical topics.
- Traffic and Transportation operations
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and moving traffic.
